How to get creative with your Bridal Preparation shots?

According to the latest UK’s government response to COVID-19, during the step 3, small weddings may be allowed again. Some fiances are excited! This excitment is to last until the wedding day, especially the hours before the ceremony, when they are getting ready. There are so many mixed emotions in the air, during the preparation, we can even capture in the photos and videos. Hence why, this is one of my favourite part of the day.

Here is a short video of how I film the preperation.

How to get creative with diferent conditions you may find at the preparation?

The locations, lighting composition, and groups may vary, so it’s very important to ready for any situation.

  • Hotel rooms: this could be an opportunity to put the bride in front of a window, without being in direct sunlight.

  • If the bride is getting ready in a salon, where there is bad artificial light, your lighting challenge will be to make it look like natural, especially for make-up shots.

  • For couples getting ready at home, you have a variety of options, rooms and a lot more flexibility to get creative.

  • Bridemaids: if they are invited to take part of the preparation, that is great opportunity to registered a more relaxed and fun moment. Despite being sometimes a bit coatic.

  • Grooms: Don’t forget them! They also have their special moment and, often, this will be the only time you will get him alone. So, make the most of it and try to capture their personality in the pictures.

Here are some ideas for you.

The Groom

It is great when I get the opportunity to shoot the groom before the Ceremony, my first objective is to make them relaxed about the big day
